Turning 18 next month, what sign up bonuses should I sign up for? Crypto exchanges, cashapp, test drives, with bonuses, etc. literally anything. I wanna make a list

Edit: I appreciate you guys all sending your referral links but I have parents/friends that use 99% of the commonly referred sites, cashapp, coinbase, robinhood etc.

  1. sofi, robinhood, webull all give bonuses for opening. td has a $300 free if you do a $2500 direct deposit but that probably doesn’t apply to you but keep in mind when tou get a job. apply for discover it student, which matches first year cash back and is good for building credit.

    1. That’s awesome, I’ll check out discover it. Robinhood is a good one. I think I’m gonna stay away from banks/credit cards until I get a job though. I’m not risking my credit for a signup bonus!

      Edited for clarity

        1. If he should let anyone know so he can get referred, it should be the first person who mentioned it. Aka: /u/Kushmanfromthehood

          1. Actually, my parents have robinhood, webull, ebates, and ibotta. They might even give me back what I help them earn!

          2. be careful with cashback referrals within the same household. Some won’t pay out the referral bonus if you’re in the same address as another account.

      1. Bank bonuses don’t affect your credit (unless the bank does a hard pull, which is a bit uncommon and a temporary hit anyway). It does affect your ChexSystems score, but this only matters if you have plans to sign up for a bank that is sensitive to ChexSystems, in which case, do that first before hitting other banks. Doc of Credit is a good source for bank account bonuses info.

        1. I’m just worried I’ll sign up for something, forget about it, and then my credit gets ruined somehow lol. My credit should be good, I probably just need to build it up because I have no credit yet.

          1. When I turned 18, I just dove right in to bank/credit bonuses. It was a bit intimidating at first, but taking it slow and setting reminders helps. Forgetting is a valid concern, especially since hundreds of dollars could be on the line.

Also for whenever you’re ready for your first credit card, make sure to try searching around and see if applying via a ref link is better than a public link (this is true for the Discover It/It Student, not sure about any others). I’ve had a few friends who made the mistake of not using a referral link when they would’ve benefited more.

      2. the bonus of a credit card is negligible, it’s to start building up a credit through small transactions. i get the credit thing – each inquiry lowers your credit score temporarily, but the average age of accounts and number of accounts matter in the long term, and you’ll lower your credit anyways when you inquire when you have a job.

        1. I don’t know if I wanna do any credit card sign up bonuses until I get an actual job. I may be open to some bank offers though

      1. Most likely something like that, but it never hurts to hear about it first before instantly putting it off as a scam, you never know

        1. we had a discussion about this. the “PM me” thing is 90% a scam and if it’s not then you’re just being rude to the community by hiding things. Don’t do this.

  2. Also check out /r/referralcodes

People will post referrals to bunch of services and banks that will give cash bonuses for opening an account but most will require a deposit of some sort up to $200

    1. Hey, these places are basically giving away free money for signing up, I’ve been waiting to do a lot of these for a year or two lol
